Foster Your Own Pet (FYOP)

Pet Rescue of Mercer (PRM) is a non-profit 501-c3 organization that helps place shelter and stray animals in good homes. We are not government funded. We rely solely on adoption fees, service fees and donations to cover our operating costs. Pet Rescue of Mercer does not have a shelter. We cannot take your animal. However, for a small fee, Pet Rescue of Mercer can assist you in finding a good home for your dog or cat.

Option I: Web Sites and Flyers

PRM has many avenues available to advertise that your pet is available for adoption. We will post your animal's picture and information to our 2 web sites. The information would also be shown at PetsMart where we hold adoptions days on Saturday.

If anyone is interested in your dog or cat, they can fill out our adoption application and we will screen the adopters for you. We will then pass the information on qualified adopters to you. Pet Rescue of Mercer will charge the adopters an adoption fee, which we will keep.

Option II: PetsMart Adoption Days

Each Saturday, PRM is at PetsMart from 11am to 3pm showing shelter dogs and cats available for adoption. Often, we have room to allow 1 or 2 owners to show their dogs and cats as well. Space is very limited at PetsMart, so if you want to come you need to schedule in advance.

For dogs, you cannot just drop your dog off and leave. You must stay with the dog. A PRM Volunteer must meet your dog and determine if it is suitable for the PetsMart environment. We cannot allow aggressive dogs to remain at the store.
