Adopt... and tell your friends to do the same! Think first of animals that have been dumped in shelters because their owners got tired of them, or the new landlord won't accept pets, or the owners moved.

Help a shelter animal Foster ... means you temporarily house a dog or cat until a permanent home can be found. Fostering is an optimal way to save animals. Animals selected for fostering are those at the highest risk.

Keep an animal out of the shelterr Foster your own pet (FYOP), consider our Foster Your Own Pet (FYOP) program when thinking about rehoming your animal. FYOP is designed to help keep animals in homes rather than being dumped into a shelter. keep your pet out of the shelter »
Spay or Neuter your Pets Spay or Neuter
Specific veterinarians accept Friends of Animals certificates as payment for the spay or neuter operation. Typically, a spay or neuter operation costs over $100, FOA certificates cut that in half. learn more about FOA »
Support our friends Support Friends & Partners The businesses and individuals listed on the Friends and Partners page have made significant contributions to the animals of Mercer County. PRM urges you to let them know you appreciate what they've done, and that you will support them because of their generosity and kindness. support our supporters » Support Animal Welfare Laws Urge municipal, county and state officials to take actions that protect animals. Write letters to your local newspaper. Examples: Pass mandatory spay/neuter laws rather than using tax dollars to euthanize healthy, adoptable animals. Strengthen anti-cruelty laws and provide enhanced enforcement of existing laws. Urge local school boards to include humane education in their curriculum.
